About
"Karen Turner's lovingly detailed songs evoke emotion like photo albums… In a voice made for vinyl, she sings with all the ache and affection essential memories demand. Her songs help us move through the sepia and blue of our past to a present where our strength is necessary and possible. I am a fan."
- Rob Seals, founder of the Songwriting School of Los Angeles

Bio
Karen Turner is an LA-native indie-folk singer-songwriter whose memorable melodies and emotionally honest lyrics combine with cinematic storytelling to create something unique. Her debut EP, “Tonight There Might Be Stars” (2022) landed on the FAI Folk Chart Top Album list and became the #1 EP on M3 Radio, marking the start of a journey that shows no sign of stopping.
“In my music, I strive to keep uncovering what is just under the surface,” Karen says. “I hope that when I get it right, a song of mine can make someone feel less alone. I’m always aiming to do what my musical heroes have done for me—to give voice to what it means to be alive.” After a 20-year hiatus from music making to raise her children, Karen returned to songwriting during the pandemic, when life became quiet and she could hear her souls’ call.
A Los Angeles native who grew up in the San Fernando Valley, Karen was a musical sponge in her formative teen years, taking in all the music she could get her hands on. This led to guitar and piano lessons so that she could learn the songs of her idols. She performed in several bands in college and was part of an acoustic duo in the ‘90’s with her then music partner, Anni Flavin, called “Stranger Than Fiction.”
Since the release of her EP, Karen has put out 2 singles and is finishing a collection of new songs---including her upcoming release, “Snow Globe”, accompanied by her first official music video. Over the past several years, she has performed as a solo artist, in acoustic duos, and as part of a women’s songwriting collective, performing in and around Los Angeles and beyond.
